Oh What a Tangled Web We Weave...

... or doodle, as the case may be! For all you Zentangle lovers out there, we just got in a fabulous new Zentangle book. All new patterns, all new strings - you're in for a totally zen experience. Author Sandy Steen Bartholomew takes you on a tangled journey through shapes, countries, animals, and architecture. You can even learn how to Zentangle on 3D objects. Here are some pictures of the covers and a few interior pages:

Zentangle is a form of meditation in the art world. It has been shown to lower stress levels and relieve anxiety - the natural repetitive flow of the work is relaxing and it's a great activity for a rainy afternoon. Of course, if you're new to Zentangle we have everything you need, so come on in and we'll help get you started.

Grungy Goodness...

Sometimes we get in new products that make us literally jump up and down for joy. This week we got in some blank copper foil engraving boards and, let me just say, our feet still haven't hit the floor.

So, what you get are six blank boards that look like black chipboard. They also cut like chipboard. Surely you see where we're going with this. You use a die cutting machine to cut out a shape. You emboss it, and then you sand it. And that's when the magic happens, because what you get is an awesome, grungy metal shape without the sharp edges! Here are a few ideas:

The possibilities with this product are only limited by your own imagination. And lucky for you, it's hanging up right on the new wall in the front of the store - come on in and pick some up today!

Classes This Weekend...

It's the end of the month and we have just a few more classes to round things out!

Of course it's Art Journaling weekend and we know some of you are just despondent because despite the fact that we are offering three (yes THREE!) different times to come in and art journal with us each month, all of this month's classes are SOLD OUT!  Unbelievable!  Michelle is considering offering a fourth time slot next month on a Thursday afternoon, so if this is a time slot that might work for you please be sure to mention it - if aome people could move to Thursday afternoons, it would make room in the evening and weekend classes so maybe we wouldn't have to turn people away :(

Saturday night from 6-12 Nancy is hosting the final crop of the month.  Crops are just $12 and light snacks are provided.  If you've never tried a crop, you really don't know what you're missing.  The only thing that makes scrapbooking more fun is scrapbooking with friends!!

Sunday afternoon from 12-2 Michelle is teaching her Basic Grey layout class, followed by Tamara from 2-4 with Magnolia.  Here are the late but adorable Magnolia samples:

New Art journal Goodies...

Happy news for all you budding art journalists - we've got some great new products to try out!
First, a great new template to use for figures on your pages. This will work great with paints, sprays, pencils... pretty much any medium you'd like to use:

We also got in a great new mixed media journal from Strathmore - it is 5.5"x8", and it has a thick, sturdy cover to help it stand up to a lot of use. The spiral binding allows the book to lie completely flat and rotate it 360 degrees while you're working on it. There are 68 pages of medium-weight paper that can be used with water color and acrylic paint, pen and ink, pencil and crayon, charcoal, marker, and collage - just about anything, really. This is the perfect size for trying new techniques and practicing things you've learned.

Last but not least - certainly not least, as this is one of my favorite new mediums to work with, is Faber-Castells big brush Pitt artist pens. These amazing artist pens are filled with India work, which is moveable and blendable when wet but dries to a permanent finish, allowing you to add layer after layer without altering what you've already done.

Here's a great tutorial video on how to color with the big brush Pitt pens:

Make sure you pick these little beauties while they're here, and keep your eyes peeled - there's a lot more arty goodness coming in!

Just a little test

testing, testing, testing. While I was at CHA I had some emails asking how people could purchase the incredibly popular Stamp2Cut from Tim Holtz without physically visiting the store.

Here is what we have come up with.

Give us to the end of the week and we will have all the cartridges up.
In the meantime feel free to buy this one, it is great!
and if you absolutely can't wait for us to get them all up then please call us at 561 432-5201

Don't have time to scrap?

What's that, you say? Did I hear that right? Some of you think you might just be a little too busy to scrapbook? That somehow, between the job, the husband, the kids, and the dog you've lost your will to cut and paste and make scrap-fabulous pages of your own?

Fear not, fair customer. Did you know that we offer custom made scrapbooks? That's right, we're just sitting here twiddling our thumbs away, waiting to create beautiful layouts just for you.

There's no project too big or too small - it can be for you or a gift for someone else, it can be a 12x12 album or an altered mini book - it's completely customizable just for you. Just gather your pictures together and give us a call - you'll meet with Michelle and discuss exactly what you want so that we can create the album of your dreams!

Did you miss Anna Dabrowska?

Michelle works so hard to bring new and interesting teachers to the store, and this past weekend we had the absolute pleasure of meeting Anna Dabrowska, and amazing artist and teacher who came all the way from Poland to teach us how to work with fabulous new product from Prima. Seriously, this was a class NOT to be missed! Just in case you did, check out some of the beautiful work created in her classes:

It's always so fascinating to hand a group of students that same basic materials and see the extraordinary variety of the end result.... each person's book was their own unique piece of art.

Of course, all this fabulousness doesn't come without complications... I'm speaking of Rosemary, of course. For those of you who know her AT ALL you know that she can't stand anything messy, especially when it comes to ink on the hands. Now, I wasn't actually here for the class, but I remember a huge cosmic boom that occurred sometime Saturday night around 7pm. Turns out no new galaxies were formed; it was Rosemary, passing out emphatically when she saw Anna's hand pallettes:

I'm pretty sure Pam didn't help matters much:

Kelli's wearing gloves, but I'm pretty sure she's just trying to get in Rosemary's good graces. If that wasn't bad enough, check out the ink wastelands:

Even I'm having heart palpitations looking at that, although I'm sure if Michelle had been here she would have been rolling in it! At this point surely you can see how happy everyone was with this class - look at all these happy ladies:

If you did miss this class, you're probably pretty upset by now. I feel you - I really wish I could have been there! Not to worry, though, we do still have some awesome Prima product left from this class. You can never get the class experience again, but there's plenty of fun stuff to experiment with - take a look:

Canvas Resist Book Covers

Cotton Tape

Canvas Resist Flowers

Cling Stamps

Alterable Flowers

Decorative Flowers

Pebbles

These products have literally flown off the shelves since the class, so if you want any make sure you come down quick!

July Classes Coming Up...

If the summer rain is dragging you down, get your bum out of the house and come take some classes!

On Saturday July 21st Nancy is teaching her newest class, the Altered Book:

In this class you'll get to carve out book pages to make a unique shadow box and you'll get to experiment with a lot of product as you create the cover.

Rosemary is having her 31st Sketch It class on Wednesday July 25th from 6pm-8pm - that's two and a half years of sketchy goodness, for those of you have been collecting:

Don't worry if you've never taken the class before - you can jump in anytime and learn how to use Rosemary's sketches in multiple ways, which will help you as you start learning to design your own cards.

This month's Art Journaling workshops will be on Thursday July 26th from 6-8, Saturday July 28th from 11-1, and then again from 3-5. Spots in this workshop tend to sell out quickly so make sure your seat is reserved!

There is a midnight crop Saturday July 28th from 6pm-12am. Crops are a great time to put finishing touches on classes you started but didn't get to finish, or great for getting pages done without family interruption.

On Sunday July 29th Michelle is teaching her Basic Grey scrapbook layout class. Every month Basic Grey creates a product kit full of yummy goodness that comes with a layout idea... Of course, Michelle puts her own spin on things with her own layouts using all that delicious product. If you need help designing layouts or just want to get some pages done for your albums, this is a great class.

We round out the month with the Magnolia card class on July 29th at 2pm. Tilda is having a lot of fun in the sun this month.

I know there are still plenty of you who want to know what Copics are all about, or maybe you've purchased them but your not sure if you're using them correctly.  Eli will teach you what the color numbers mean and how to blend with these amazing streakless markers... give us a call and we'll be more than happy to sign you up!

Bad News, Good News....

As you know, Michelle has been a busy little bee up in Chicago, mixing and mingling and shopping and emersing herself in all things CHA....

So, the BAD news is there is no new tag for this week.  We do still have some tags from previous weeks left to do, so if you just really miss us and you want to come in and see us (and you KNOW you do), there are projects here to do.  Here are some of the tags we have waiting for you to do:

Now for the GOOD news - we thought to tide you over we'd give a few sneak peaks of some cool new product Michelle's been oogling.... check out some of these new goodies:

Tim Holtz Metallic Distress Stains

Graphic 45 Birdsong

We look forward to seeing you!
