New From Paper Artsy...

All you Artsy ladies out there are going to love our new products from Paper Artsy.  First, some restock and some new styles of their fun and funky stamps:

Also new from Paper Artsy, Grunge Paste!

As you can see Michelle couldn't wait to open it.... and I can understand why!  Grunge Paste is a texture medium with a thinner, silkier texture than other texture pastes on the market, which allows it to work well with fine detail.  You can use a little or a lot and tint it as needed.  Here's a quick introductory video from Paper Artsy to tell you all about it:

Once you watch the video you know you're going to want some, so why don't you come on down to the store first before we run out; then you can practice along side the video!

I Mustache You to Take A Look at These New Products:

I mustache you a question... do you love mustaches?  If you do, you'll love this new die from Lifestyle Crafts:

Aren't they funny???  We got in two great new doily dies as well:

Doilies are awesome - they're so great to layer with other papers or use as mats... the perfect multipurpose platform!   Doilies are also the perfect accents for our new Julie Nutting stamps AND the new Julie Nutting stencil just in from Prima:

Yummy yum yum... paper doll pieces make me happy :)  I have searched and searched and I haven't found any great examples of projects made with the Julie Nutting stencil on the web, so if you make something please bring it in - we'd love to see what you come up with!

Also in from Lifestyle Crafts, those magnetic storage binders that we love, love, LOVE for die storage:

These are amazing for storing Lifestyle Craft dies:

But they do work great for other dies as well.... as long as they're metal.  This is the system I myself use for storing my thin dies and I love it... so convenient and everything is so easy to find now!

These have been back ordered at the company for a while, which means they're in high demand... make sure to come get yours while they're still in stock!

Classes This Week

Woo Hoo!!!  It's Art Journaling weekend at ESS - Michelle is teaching Adventures in Art Journaling on Thursday June 27th from 6-8pm and then again on Saturday June 29th from 11am to 1pm and then again from 3pm-5pm.

On Friday, June 28th Michelle is teaching a Make n Take using Pan Pastels - this is the perfect time to try out this exciting product if you haven't had a chance yet. Pan Pastels are artist quality pastels in pots... they're fun to use and create a very unique look on your pages, so come on in and give them a try.

On Sunday June 30th Amy is holding the Smash club.  This is a free event but you must register to attend, so please call the store if you'd like to come.  Trust me, just having the chance to peruse Amy's Smash books is worth the trip - they're amazing!  Bring your own Smash book to show off your work - we all love to see each other's work.  The assignment from last month's class was to use some type of fabric pocket, zipper, or buttons on a page, so feel free to join in on that and bring in a sample page.  For the pop up technique that Amy will be teaching in this month's class please bring a photo and your adhesives.

Take a Tour Around...

You know how it goes - Nancy and Michelle just CAN NOT be happy unless their cleaning and moving and generally making my work life miserable.  After all, they KNOW I only work once a week.   They KNOW even when I'm working I'm usually on the computer, not spending a lot of time walking around and finding out where things are.  And yet, they continue to move things and change things and make it generally impossible for me to show you guys where anything is at when you come in and ask me questions.  What's a poor girl to do?

But you know what's worse than that?  Nancy and Michelle have moved things around SO many times that even they don't know where they put things anymore!  I can't even tell you how long we spend looking for things now... A customer asks me a question, I don't know where it is, I ask Nancy or Michelle, and they tell me to go ask the other one.  Worse yet, they keep asking ME where they put things... now what kind of sense does that make, I ask you?

Well, we may be a trio of bumbling idiots who can't find anything when you ask, but ironically the store's not looking half bad.

I decided to take some pictures and post them here, so next time you come in you'll know where things are.... that way we can get back to doing what we do best... which is basically trying to decide what we're going to do next.  Hmmm... I have to think about that a minute.  Enjoy our virtual tour... ok, maybe it's not as good as the ones on those real estate sites, but if you scroll up and down really quickly it'll be kind of like an animated tour, right?

Most of you who are familiar with the store won't even recognize this area... it's formerly known as Michelle's work table.  You won't recognize it because it's always been buried under piles and piles of (highly valuable product to be saved for some important use in the future... also known as junk...)

Hopefully this will help you next time you come in.  I know it will help me... I'm keeping them on my phone so I can find my way back to my computer when I come in next week.  They should be good at least that long...

I hope....

Tuesday Tutorial Time #14

We're back with a new Tuesday Tutorial Time layout designed by Melinda Miller - enjoy!

Paper Collection:    Authentique - Cherish

Supplies:

Papers used from the collection: Cherish
·         Cherish Three
·         Cherish Enhancements
·         Cherish Components
·         Bazzill – Yellow
Other Materials:
Pop Dots
Zots
Tim Holtz Distress tool
Tim Holtz Distress ink – Antique  Linen
Versamark
Clear Embossing powder
Ink a dink a doo stamp
Ribbon
Heat gun

Instructions:
Layer 1.  I used the Bazzill paper in yellow for my foundation page.  To add interest and texture I used a large background stamp, versamark and clear embossing powder.

Layer 2:  Cherish Three is the next layer, which I distressed with the distress tool and then inked.  To make the cutouts, I simply made a cut, used the distress tool, inked and curled with a small paintbrush.  To add the lace, I added double sided sticky tape to the back of the page and then added the lace.  Adhere down to the foundation page.

Layer 3: Cut embellishments from the Components and Enhancement pages.  Distress with the tool and ink.

Layer 4:  Using a die cut machine, I cut the frame, sprayed with glimmer spray and added the pearls.

Layer 5:  Paper flowers were made with die cut flowers with 5 petals and glued together with hot glue.

Layer 6:  Lay down your embellishments and add your final bling!

Here's another look at the final layout:

Thanks so much to Melinda for another awesome layout idea!
