Glimmery Goodness

Look what we got!!!! Tons and tons of Glimmer Mist. We love this stuff.

Usually the shipment sells out in a couple of days so this time we purchased even more including the latest Spring Colors. They have such cool names: Cherry Blossom, Garden Fairy, Dew Drop, Hydrangea, Mimosa and Sweet Pea. I can't wait to start using these on all the spring projects I have planned.

Our Customers have been bring baked goodies for us this week to munch on.

How sweet they are :)

today we got a lovely Italian Lunch brought in with cookies for dessert. (Thanks Pam) No picture of that as we ate it too fast. And we got a telephone call this morning that someone else made chocolate candies for us. . . . . . . . . . .

Guess I am going to have to postpone weighing in at Weight Loss Wednesday for a while as I don't want to be rude and not sample everything.

Got to go eat some cookies, more later . . . . . . . . . . . .

I'm Blogging today!!!

Did you think we were never going to blog again ???? I can't believe when I look at the date that I last wrote something here that so much time has flown by, where does it all go? Don't even get me started about Christmas. Rosemary just told me this afternoon that there are 12 days left till Christmas!!!! That kinda freaked me out because I have not even started thinking about shopping let alone got any of it done. Thank goodness I still have my christmas tree up from last year :)

Here at the store we have been so busy for the last couple of weeks, it's a wonder we are still awake. This week we had numerous classes and also the Hero Arts Catalog Debut event. We are also completing an album that we have been commissioned to make for a "celebrity".

We are also working on numerous Make and Takes, classes and workshop samples. We have started doing the Tims 12 Tags of Christmas at the store and have made the first 3, next week we are doing the 2nd 3 tags but we have had to wait for the supplies to be restocked.

I really need to find more time in the day to get everything done. I have quit doing housework, cooking and talking to my husband (okay that part only saved me 30 seconds a day) but, there still does not appear to be enough hours in a day to get everything done.

So that is a long winded reason why this blog does not get updated more frequently.

Well onto some photos as I know you all like to see them. (either that or it is a reason to stop reading the prattle that I write).

Here is a photograph of the Hero Arts Party. We had some delicious cookies and lots of fun. I love the new Hero Arts Catalog, lots of great stamps and some wonderful inspiration. We did sell out of catalogs but we have more on the way.

Today (Saturday) we had one of our Stamp Of the Month classes. This months cards were all cooking/baking themed and were very cute.

This photo is from the Thursday Stamp of the month class. For some reason I did not take a photo from Friday nights class :( As you can see these classes are very popular and it is at times like these I wish we had four cash registers so that customers did not have to wait so long to check out.

So at least I have blogged today.
Hello is there anyone out there? if you are reading this please leave a comment so that I know I am not talking to myself :) OUCH, Rosemary just whacked me across the back of my head and said I was acting like a petulant child asking for comments. But seriously folks, it would be nice to know if there is anyone actually reading this.

Holiday Ornament Contest

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas, as the radio says! Christmas carols have been playing constantly on our local station at the store and it has put us in the mood to have some more fun.

Whether you celebrate Christmas, Kwanza or Hanukkah we have a contest for you.

Make a decoration to hang on our tree using items you would find in our store and be entered in to our contest. You can enter as many times as you wish. Customers will vote for their favourites and you could win prizes. On December 20th we will donate the tree and all the ornaments to a local charity and award gift certificates to the winners of the contest. We thought this would be a way to have some fun and also give back to the local community.
1st Prize: $50 gift certificate and free class of your choice
2nd Prize: $30 gift certificate
3rd Prize: $25 gift certificate
Get busy people!!!!
We are putting the final touches onto our December calendar and should have it completed by next week. Lots of fun classes are coming up. Now if I could just find the time to finish some of the samples for the classes I am doing. . . . . . .

Crop Scene Investigation Event

We had our big Customer Appreciation Event yesterday at the store. This event was sponsored by EK Success, K and Company, Martha Stewart Crafts & Inkadinkado. It was a day filled with Make and Takes and we even had a little game with clues to solve. We had quite a few winners, sadly I was not one of them. The clues were tested out on me a couple of days before the event and I only got one right!!!! I was not given the answers so that I could not be bribed to help, although I did see Rosemary, Amy & even Capella helping the customers with their clues.

We had 129 customers come in to have some fun with us and we also had Liz fly down from New Jersey to help us out. Liz was the event co ordinator with EK and helped come up with the CSI themed event. So a big thanks to Liz and all the others from Wilton for making sure we had a great Customer Appreciation Day.

Here are some photos from the event.

Searching for the answers to the clues

Looks like she solved a clue!

One of the Make & Takes with Kristie.

Here is a close up of the 4 cards we did as Make & Takes.

It was a wonderful day to show our customers how much we appreciate them. So a Big Thank You for coming to our event.

I love Ranger

It is no secret that I am a big fan of Ranger Products especially the Tim Holtz distress products. I though it might be fun to demo another product that Ranger has, The Melting Pot. The Melting Pot is part of the Suze Weinberg range of products.

The Melting Pot can be used to melt and pour Ultra Thick Embossing Enamels also known as UTEE, you can also melt soap, wax, glue, candy, shrink "shrink plastic" and even bake your Polymer Clay pieces.

So Monday I will be demoing one use for the Melting Pot. Come to the store anytime between 11:00 and 1:00 tomorrow.

Free Make & Take

I have a confession to make....

I am a compulsive list maker. I love them. I have a list for grocery stores, a list for chores, a list for things that I have to buy or make. You name it I have a list for it. I even have a list of items I need to make a list for :)

My Christmas lists are kind of interesting. I have a list of people I need to buy gifts for. Then behind that I have a list of items I think that that person might like. I have a list with the people names crossed off when I have bought their gifts and then I have a list of stores that have the best deals for that particular item. Then I make a list of the order in which I will visit those stores.

One thing I have a tendency to do: when I have a list of things that need to be done, if I do something that is not on the list I write it down on the list and then cross it off. I recently found out that my sister does that too. So there you have it, some insight into the mind of a crazy english woman.

I thought this year it would be nice to have a way to organize my lists and decided to share it with you. So if you love making lists like me or just like to make stuff then come on by the store this week.

This is a sweet little notebook that fits in your wallet. It has eight pages to record all your holiday shopping needs. You can make this slim little cutie anytime before Sunday. Just come on in, grab a kit and get started.

Cricut Design Studio

I thought I would take some time to show one of our customers creations. She is taking Mary's Cricut Design Studio classes at the store and after two lessons she created this with the new deep cut blade and her cricut. Isn't it fantastic?

I can't believe she was able to do this after only two classes. I will have to find some time and take a class myself :)

Check back as we will be posting a Make & Take that we will be offering this week.

Stamp Class

Today was our Stamp of the month class. We hold this class 4 times each month to accommodate all the people that sign up. I think next month we will have to add a fifth class. It becomes utter chaos during checkout with everyone trying to make sure that they grab all the stamps and accessories that they want to buy. We also got the Sharon Ann Christmas Magic collection in and everybody wanted that as well. Unfortunately there are no embellishments left for tomorrows class :(

These were the three cards we made this month.

Aren't these cards beautiful? I love using the non traditional colors. We have another two classes for this tomorrow and then we will post the pictures for next months class.

Well I had better go get some sleep,I have a long drive to visit my mother tomorrow.

Old Friends & Chaos

Uli my friend from Germany finally tracked me down. She has been trying to get my attention for months but I have been too busy to respond. So Uli thanks for perservering and I look forward to seeing you in a couple of months.

I love owning a scrapbook store but it is a lot of work and I sometimes neglect my friends and family. It is my Mothers Birthday tomorrow so I will be taking the day off to go and visit her. Talking about being neglectful, my scrapbook room has suffered. Those of you that have read my blog from the begining know how organized my scrapbook room used to be. Well here are the frightful photos of it now. Warning. These photos are quite graphic and those of you with weak hearts may not want to look :)

Well I must go, we have two stamp classes today with a total of 48 people participating so there are bound to be some mishaps and lots of giggles.

So as Uli would say Auf Wiedersehen! Well she would really say "goodbye" as she speaks great english except for the word glue!!!!!

Tim Holtz is here

Well not the man Tim Holtz but his products :) I wish it was Tim himself, anyway we received all the new Tim Holtz products from the summer CHA show. His new masks are shown below. I can't wait to start playing with these.

Maybe I will get some spare time over the weekend to play with these and Glimmer Mists.
We also got his new metals and Grungeboard. The new stickles, Metallic Crackle and Claudine products will start shipping next week.

Look for a Tim Holtz Product demonstration day coming soon :)

New arrivals

We just received these wonderful papers from Creative Imaginations. The wintery ones are absolutely loaded with glitter! The red papers are an old fashioned red color perfect for older photos. I can't wait to use these papers to make a class for our 12 days of Christmas.

We also received the new Tim Holtz products. These are something I am going to have fun playing with. Fun new grungeboard and metals. Yippee!

New Pulp albums finally arrived, these are my personal favorite. I love the feel and quality of these albums.

Yesterday we had a little bird in the store. A few of the customers were scared with it flying around. I thought it was sweet, it was a little brown bird with a lovely yellow chest. It flew into the window and was stunned. I was afraid to put him outside while he was dazed in case a predator got him so I scooped him up and placed a shopping basket over him and he joined our morning class. It took a good 30 minutes for him to revive and then we set him free. I wanted to take a photo as he was lovely but I did not want to scare him with the flash. Something exciting happens in the store every day!!!

Glimmerize

We are making this adorable book today. This book can be used for winter/holiday photos, as a journal, as a holiday card list or anything else you can think of. It really glimmers and glistens when you see it up close. I love to do projects like this as they are quick, easy and make a great hostess gift. I think we will have to do a autumn themed one as well :)

SEI Oasis & Creative Imaginations

SEI Oasis was also delivered yesterday. This collection is all foiled and is absolutely breathtaking. Perfect for fall or travel themes or anything you need a touch of sophistication for.

Next we have to enter all the new Creative Imaginations products which include some wonderful glittered Snowflake papers. I am currently making a beautiful Christmas Angel with this collection for an upcoming 12 days of Christmas class. I will try to post some photos tomorrow of some of the recent projects I made last weekend.

October 9, 2008

BasicGrey and SEI has arrived :)

Yesterday we got in the new collection packs from BasicGrey: Granola and Urban Prairie. We only have a couple of each left so let us know if you want us to hold one for you.

We also received Glitzmas and Alpine Frost papers and embellishments from SEI. Hopefully we will have time to get these boxes open tomorrow. :)

These are just so pretty.

Meeting Cheryl

I don't know what was wrong with Blogger yesterday but it labeled my Monday night post as Fridays???? Strange!

Anyway on to today's post.

At the Convention I attended this weekend, I got to take a class from the very talented Cheryl Mezzetti. I have admired her work for a long time so it was great to meet her. She works for Creative Imaginations and lives in Boston. Cheryl speaks just like Rosemary but funnier. It was great to tease her and get her to say certain words so I could laugh. I know, I know it is the small silly things that amuse me.

Here are some samples of her work. The photos don't do them justice. She has lots of cute details throughout.

She also is a strong believer in the CI Super Seal that we have at the store. She covers all her work with it to protect it. She even tells a story of one of her projects being left in a snow bank under her car overnight and when her husband found it the next day there was no damage. I am definately going to be using it on my projects from now on.

hmmm I just noticed I use the word "great" way too much. Gonna have to get out my thesaurus.
